The Detroit SonoCup was started in the summer of 2015 as a collaborative event between St. John Hospital, Sinai Grace Hospital, and Detroit Receiving Hospital to promote ultrasound education in southeast Michigan. In recent years, Beaumont Hospital and the University of Michigan have joined the event. Over the course of 4 hours, resident physicians perform live ultrasound scanning in both a group setting, and as part of a single elimination tournament in front of an audience. The event focuses on the core emergency ultrasound applications, including: Echocardiography, Lung, Biliary, Aorta, Renal, OB/GYN, Musculoskeletal/Soft Tissue, and Procedures.
