Resident Resources
ER residents have their own separate lounge, workroom with computers with Dragon, locker room, bathroom and shower in the ED.
In addition, there is a hospital wide resident lounge with computers, snacks, coffee, kitchenette, call rooms. ED residents have a designated call room in this lounge.
Library — A modern health science library containing 6,400 text volumes, 470 periodical subscriptions, 7,500 bound journal volumes and a separate audio-visual room with full computer capabilities is available for resident use.
Computer Room — A resident computer room in the library, with up-to-date database programs, word processing software and more, is available. Computer room hours are 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Research Managers — Full-time research managers are employed by the hospital to facilitate resident research projects.

Professional Liability Insurance
Residents are covered under Ascension St. John Hospital’s professional liability program for any actions during the scope and course of their training as residents despite when the claim is filed. Professional liability coverage is provided through Michigan Assurance Group Ltd.
Long-Term Disability Insurance
Ascension St. John Hospital provides long-term coverage in the amount of $1,500 per month, payable after 90 days of disability to age 65. The basic program is available on a guaranteed-issue basis, and optional features are available to increase the benefit, and/or add a cost of living rider. The coverage elected as a resident can be continued after leaving Ascension St. John through a guaranteed conversion option.
Resident Health Care Benefits
Residents can tailor their health care benefits to suit their needs. Benefits include major medical, dental, optical and more. Coverage provided for eligible dependents. Residents and their eligible dependents are covered by a prescription drug program that requires a co-payment. Eligible dependents are also covered in the Dental Care Plan at no extra charge.
